QUEENSWAY CATHEDRAL’S SHORT-TERM MISSIONS (STM's)
Our STM department exists for the sole purpose of promoting, recruiting, equipping and sending teams of people to be witnesses for Jesus Christ. To date, we have commissioned teams to Cuba, Dominican Republic, India, Jamaica, Uganda, and Ukraine.
CUBA – April 2010
The purpose of this mission trip is to visit rural churches to encourage the pastors and congregations, praying with them, and delivering needed supplies, vitamins, medicines, clothing, Spanish Bible study materials and financial support. For many of these churches this is the only contact they will have with outside world, or even outside their own village for that year.
UKRAINE – May 2010
Our ministry will consist of:
• Collecting toiletries, craft materials, baby items, etc. from the church and shipping the items to the above orphanages and other agencies that serve the poor of Ukraine.
• We will host a one day Women’s Conference in Orvuch.
• We will participate in Sunday Ministry in Orvuch.
• We will participate in work projects in Orvuch.
• We will minister in three different orphanages:
• Pohochivka Girls Orphanage (home to 110 girls with down syndrome)
• Livischitsi Orphanage (home to 110 girls and boys)
• Borislav Rehab School / Orphanage (home to 110 girls and boys that have a physical disability)
• We will visit inmates at a Women’s Prison in L’viv.
JAMAICA – June 2010
The purpose of this trip is to work with our missionary Cartland Palmer at his skills training centre, Project of Hope. The main focus will be assisting with the rebuilding of a wall that collapsed due to hurricanes and also to finish off the construction of the retreat centre that houses the missions teams. We will provide ministry on two occasions at local churches keying in on men's needs.
